First Year Frontier Program is packed with great programs!!
Summer camp is a unique opportunity for Scouts to integrate with the troop in a range of Scout related activities over the course of a week in August. Summer camp is strongly encouraged as it’s a great way for Scouts to get to know one another, achieve rank advancement and merit badge objectives, all while having a lot of fun.
Summer camp takes place at Hidden Valley camp, which is run by NH based Daniel Webster BSA Council, on the grounds of Griswold Scout Reservation in the town of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH. Last summer, I had the privilege to attend as an adult leader for the first time (my 7th grade son is in Troop 4's Llama patrol); I left very impressed with the whole operation.
Troop 4 Hopkinton will participate this year in week 8, which is August 11-17, 2019. Other troops from around the region also participate each week; Troop 4 Hopkinton has a camp site space reserved so the troop will be all together at camp for the week. Last year over 40 scouts from Troop 4 participated, and we are again on track for similar numbers this year.
The cost per Scout is $410 for newly joining Scouts, payable in portion or in full when you sign up; a Summer Camp signup sheet is available at every Troop 4 Meeting. We’d like to get everyone signed up by May. Medical forms A,B and C are also required to be completed in time for camp.
