Sequoia Prep Hike - White Mountains NH
June 23-24, 2018
This trip continues Troop 4’s backpacking adventure program with challenging hikes in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, rewarding participants with spectacular views in the alpine zone above tree line. We will hike in separate groups using different routes in the Presidential Range and along the Franconia Ridge of the White Mountains. This will be one of the last big tune-ups before many scouts and leaders head to Sequoia/Kings Canyon in July.

Camping at Pawtuckaway State Park & Mountain Biking at Highland Mountain Bike Park

Come join us for a weekend of Camping at Pawtuckaway State Park, NH & Biking @ Highland Mountain Bike Park. On Friday we’ll be camping at Pawtuckaway in tents, Saturday Day hike amongst the Glacier Boulders and cooking around the camp fire with a Dutch Oven Iron Chef Cookoff. On Sunday, we will pack up and drive to Highland to learn and enjoy lift service downhill mountain biking. That’s right, lift service, you don’t have to ride up-hill…..it’s all downhill fun!!!!
Highland Mountain Bike Park provides a program specially designed for new riders and first timers to lift-access mountain biking, called The Find Your Ride. Participants will receive instruction and guidance ensuring a fun, safe, and successful first experience.
The Package includes:
- One all-day lift pass
- One Park Ready™ rental bike (Scouts will not be able to bring their own bikes)
- Full-face helmet and safety equipment
- One-hour Park Ready™ lesson, including the following topics:
- Bike setup and operation
- Rider body positions & movement
- Braking o Descending
- Cornering
- One guided, top to bottom run on beginner friendly terrain

Troop 4 Hopkinton had a blast on the weekend trip. The troop signed up as Lightfighters and hiked their way in to the tent city.
