Cost: $55

Scout Camp Resolute , Bolton, MA

Join Troop 4 for an exciting weekend at Camp Resolute building Trebuchet’s utilizing Pioneering Skills. Patrols will be competing on Design/Structural Integrity, Distance, Accuracy utilizing Water Balloons and other fun projectiles.

Our Trebuchets will throw 60+ feet easily. If built perfectly, the math say’s - they could throw 160 feet.

A trebuchet is a type of catapult that uses a swinging arm to throw a projectile. It was a common powerful siege engine until the advent of gunpowder. There are two main types of trebuchets. The first is the traction trebuchet, or mangonel, which uses manpower to swing the arm. The later, and often larger, counterweight trebuchet, also known as the counterpoise trebuchet, uses a counterweight to swing the arm.

Friday – we’ll arrive after dinner, setup camp and enjoy a camp fire program.

Saturday - will be spent practicing our Pioneering Skills, building the Trebucehts and practicing Launching projectiles.

Sunday - the competition begins. First you’ll be assessed on Structural Integrity, Distance, Accuracy. Once proven your Trebuchet is ready and can be operated safely, you’ll launch water ballons and other fun projectiles at a to be specified target…..maybe it could be a Scoutmaster??????
