Scout through First Class Advancement

Getting Started

Welcome to Troop 4.  If you have joined the Troop by crossing over from Webelos, one or two Troop Guides (older Scouts) will be assigned to your patrol.  They will work with you to get started on your first rank which is Scout and then Tenderfoot.  If you joined the troop not having participated in Webelos, you will be put in a patrol with other scouts of the same age and school grade.  In this case, you might work on advancements with guides or your patrol leader.

For Scout Rank you will only need a Scoutmaster Conference to achieve the rank.  For all subsequent ranks, you will need both a Scoutmaster's Conference and Board of Review in the section under "Scout Spirit".   There is also one requirement just before the Scoutmaster Conference for you to select points of the Scout Law.  Select these in advance of the Scoutmaster Conference and the Scoutmaster will review these with you and then sign them off.

The Scoutmaster conference is a discussion with you to understand how you are doing, get feedback on the program and set goals for the next rank.   The Scoutmaster will want to understand how you are progressing on "Living the Scout Oath and Law in your everyday life" with each rank.   For these earlier ranks, a Scoutmaster conference may be requested with a Patrol Advisor or the Scoutmaster.  All Star, Life and Eagle Scoutmaster Conferences are with the Scoutmaster.

The Board of Review is conducted by at least 3 committee members.  During the Board of Review, the Committee members will ask the Scout to recite the Oath, Law and might test the Scout in other areas to ensure that they have met the requirements for the rank.  Use this link to request a Board of Review

Rank Advancements are formally recognized at the Troop's regularly scheduled Courts of Honor

All Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review will be conducted with the Scout in full Class A Uniform.

If you have any advancement questions, contact the Scoutmaster or Advancement Chair.
