High Adventure Trip for Troop 4

Trip designed for Scouts 14 years and older

Troop 4 won the lottery and is headed to Philmont in 2021. A Philmont trek is guaranteed to be one that a Scout will never forget. Over 12 days we will trek on Scout selected itineraries that range from 50-100 miles and include afternoon activities such as horseback riding, rock climbing, rappelling, challenge events, pole climbing, muzzle loading/shooting, 12-gauge trap shooting, .30-06 shooting, trail building, mountain biking and many more.

Trip Dates: 7/30-8/13 2021

  • 7/30 - Fly out to Denver

  • 7/30 PM & 7/31 Tour Colorado Springs (Pikes Peak, WW Rafting, Garden of Gods)

  • 8/1 - Travel to Philmont - arrive lunchtime

  • 8/2 - On the Trail

  • 8/12 - Off the Trail

  • 8/13 - Travel Home

Shakedown and prep hikes are mandatory for all who are going on this trip.

Trip Details

  • We will have two crews with 9-10 scouts and 2-3 leaders per crew.

  • Scouts need to be 14 years old on August 1, 2021 or be 13 and have completed 8th grade

  • Philmont is 140,000 acres that serves 3500 hikers on any given day with 350 new scouts coming and going daily

  • At 12,441 ft, Mt. Baldy is the tallest point

  • Itineraries vary greatly in distance and activities based upon Scout’s choice

  • 2 weekend overnight shakedowns before we leave

Medical and Consent forms - This is very important!!

Scouts (and attending Adults) without these forms will not be allowed to participate:

  1. Medical Forms: Please ensure three paper copies of Part A, B and C and including a copy of your insurance card is delivered to Jen Joyce at 4 Fenton
