Mt Kathadin, 2024
Six High Peaks Aug 30-Sept 2, 2024

This is an opportunity for scouts to get Maine’s highest peak rocker and the final destination to complete the 6-high peaks. Let's go climb the majestic Mt Katahdin (Baxter Peak at 5,270'), the northern terminus of the Appalachian trail. Six leaders scoped it out back in 2020 during the height pandemic and felt it is high time we bring our scouts to experience what we thoroughly enjoyed as much as we were challenged. Having seen a seven year old and first year scouts climb Mt Washington fall of 2023, we are confident our scouts can hike this giant in the beautiful Maine wilderness.
It'll be an out & back with 10.7 miles starting at Roaring Brook trailhead, up Chimney Pond and Saddle Trail with a vertical gain of 3,832'. The second day we'll explore the state park, go canoeing, fishing, swimming etc.
Download the packing list for the trip including details on what you will need to wear or pack on the hike to the place known for "The World's Worst Weather"
